Does any of that sum up how you feel about being a professional fighter? Here is what is wrong with the above sentence:"Everyone wants to be a cage fighter! Chicks dig scars and there is nothing cooler than telling your mates down at the pub that you are a professional 'Cage Animal' and you would f**k their sh*t up, so don’t even go there!"
“Chicks dig scars”
They do… It was in a Van Damme movie so it must be true. But scars usually mean that you’re not moving your head out of the way of punches, which is not a positive thing.
“There is nothing cooler than telling your mates down at the pub that you are a professional 'Cage Animal'”
This is true; telling people you a pro 'Cage Fighter' really floats some people's boat (I think it sounds stupid), but the problem with this part of the sentence is,“mates at the pub”.
“Mates”? What are those? You spend so much time training that usually your only friends are the ones who punch you in the face.
“Pub” – You might get to one of these a couple of times a year if you're lucky, being a pro fighter means sacrifice.
The last part of the sentence, "you would f**k there sh*t up."
After a hard week of sparring, technical work, strength training and cardiovascular training, you are usually so physically tired that you could not kick a kitten, never mind pick a fight.
Want to find out what it takes to go from FNG - read the next installment to find out what that means - to professional fighter? Then stay tuned.
